The security smartphone app has a large range of alerts that let you know about important things in your home.

The alerts take a matter of minutes to set up on your phone. They can save you a great deal of trouble by giving you early awareness of a problem in your home.

Listed below are four lesser-known alerts that could be valuable to you. They can all be found under the notifications tab on your smartphone app.

1: Temperature Threshold Alert

This alert warns you of your home’s heating malfunctions. This notification is often used for frequent travelers or second homeowners.

If the temperature drops below a certain degree, you’ll get a notification, giving you the time to take action below water pipes freeze or burst.

2: Smoke Detector Low Battery

Smartphone alert, smart security

You may have grown up with the habit of replacing your smoke detector batteries at the same time of year.

The smart smoke detector that is connected to your alarm system, will automatically send you an alert when the battery runs low, no matter what time of the year it is. No more replacing batteries before it is needed or forgetting to change the batteries.

3: Curfew Alert

Having a curfew as a teenager is pretty standard in most families. Giving a teenager a curfew is a good way to enhance their sense of responsibility as they become more independent and make sure they are home safe at a certain time.

However, if you are out of town or out to dinner, how will you know what time they came home?

With the security smart phone app, you can set up a curfew alert. This is a type of user code alert, that allows you to see when the teen arrives home and disarms the security system after a given time of night.

You can also set up a “no show” alert that is great for teens, dog walkers and contractors alike.

4: Refrigerator Left Open

Have you or your kids ever accidentally left the refrigerator or freezer door left open?

All you need to do is place a contact sensor on the door and activate the pre-set notification.
If the door is left open for more than five minutes, you’ll get a reminder on your phone to close it.
